Fun Pictures.

Nathaniel is loving his sister right now! He keeps asking "what's that?" We keep telling him that it is his baby sister Addison and when he tries to say her name it comes out "Medicine".

The Story behind the birth!

So we are finally home and trying to get life back to normal. The past 5 days have been very exciting and crazy. Everything started Thursday morning at 3:30a.m. when our alarm went off to get ready to go to the hospital. We arrived at Southern Regional at 5:30a.m. ready for a nice and easy repeat c-section. I was wrong about the nice and easy part. The C-section was scheduled at 7:30a.m. but they have you get there 2 hours earlier to torture you before the surgery. First, they put in the very painful I.V. then they put in my catheter. After that some blood work and other fun things. Then at 7:30a.m. I walked down a long hall pushing my I.V. stand and holding my catheter bag into the Operating Room. Once in the room they realized the table I was to be operated on was broken so I stood in the middle of the room for about 15 minutes until they got a new bed into the room. Now, things are starting to roll. I get my spinal and they strap me down to the table. House comes in and then the cutting begins. After a few minutes my chest begins to hurt and I ask what is going on. The Doctor says that my organs are resting on top of my chest and that is where the pressure is coming from. I look at House to tell him I am hurting and I see a reflection in the cabinets of my uterus sitting on top of my chest outside my body. YIKES! I realized then why I was hurting.
The baby then arrives and things are looking up. They bring her over and House and I finally decide on a name....Addison Dian Houseworth. We were so excited to finally have a name.

After the surgery, I get rolled to recovery then off to my room. Family is waiting to come in and visit and I am just excited that the worst was over...so I thought. As the day continues my body starts to have a reaction to the spinal medication and I begin to itch. For the next 24 hours my body itches like it never has before. I itched from head to toe. I felt like there were needles poking my skin all over. I thought I was going crazy. They gave me many different medications but nothing seemed to be working. Finally on Friday, my husband runs to the store and buys a bottle of Gold Bond medicated cooling lotion for me to try. When he returned I bathed from head to toe then covered myself in lotion. I then laid down on the bed and tried to calm myself down. Believe it or not the lotion began to work. From that point on the itching slowed down and stopped and I was starting to feel like normal again. Now things are looking up again!!

Saturday morning I was ready to come home. The doctor said it would be fine and dismissed me. YEA, we were going home but home was not ready for us! We arrived home to a broken air conditioner and more ants. (We have a small ant problem) Well, we spent the afternoon in our basement trying to get cool and working on the breastfeeding thing. I was having a hard time with breastfeeding so a few friends came to the rescue. Heather Barr brought over some heating pads, Nick Rowland came over to fix the air and The Robinsons came over for moral support. Well, after a few hours, Nick fixed the air, House killed the ants, and breastfeeding was going better.
So now, two days later things are going smooth. Addison is doing great. She has her days and nights mixed up so there is not a lot of sleeping at night but I guess that is to be expected. Mom is in town helping out for the next week so hopefully things will run smooth around here until my body heals and I am able to move around like normal.
